Lucy doesn’t understand why other people can’t see the miraculous, imaginative and fairytale-like things she experiences daily. She feels alone and isolated and longs to share her world with a friend.
With a chance encounter on her way to work, Lucy discovers companionship in Coen, a young waiter who questions the monotonous and mundane activities in his daily life - he desires something more. Despite differences in their personalities, both characters feel a sense of uncertainty in self-identity and this brings them closer together. Lucy introduces Coen to a world beyond the mundane, and Coen offers Lucy a sense of friendship and empathy that she has never known.
