musings of would-be science geeks...

continuing conversational themes

Humans are naturally curious creatures, constantly perceiving, filtering and processing information for any and every inconceivable purpose and reason under the LED desk-lamp - so that there is no end to the manner of why, how, what or if.

Most of the categories are obvious - except perhaps the Pi Shop - where you might find, err... the science of consumerism, things ingested or other such nonscience.

AdJewel Free (iPad)

1 December 2010

There has to be something better out there for this 'match-3' genre. It was slightly different in that you can rotate the playing field but ultimately annoying. At least the ads don't flash in your face.

Design-wise it is garish but I suppose the different Jewel types were distinctive and that probably matters.

Angry Birds (iPad)

OK it's not exactly my sort of game however I did enjoy the game Fragger in the same genre - but that was on computer - on iPad I can't quite coordinate the angles.

I've watched others play and yep - I can see why this game is so popular. It's levels and humour leave Fragger behind. Wish I wasn't so clumsy with my touch. I think I would otherwise enjoy it immensely.

iPad : productivity : email

13 August 2010

The Mail app comes standard with iPad.

PROS

It works almost identically to the desktop version and so if you're happy at that level then all is good.

CONS

The only thing to note is that you can't create your usual array of mailbox folders.

Figmince of the imagination? Why? Why not! A frivolous complement to conversations begun in a chatroom because sometimes it's hard to capture a coherent thought let alone take it to any sort of conclusion in such a place. Of all the models that attempt to describe the different ways in which people think and learn perhaps 4MAT sums up purpose best of all. In the end, the inquisitive mind just needs an outlet... here it is.
